Horizon Theme
Shopify’s Horizon theme ushers in a new era of flexibility and customisation using Liquid Theme Blocks. The theme empowers merchants by offering control over their storefronts, allowing them to update content faster and more intuitively. However, it’s good to keep in mind that with this flexibility comes added complexity as it requires care and skill to avoid design pitfalls.

Sidekick: Shopify’s AI-Powered Assistant
Sidekick has evolved beyond a chatbot and is now an integrated AI command centre – sort of like a companion for merchants and its capabilities are impressive. Use it to analyse customer segments, create discount codes, even build a campaign, the options seem to be endless. Other features:
• Sidekick is available in 20 languages
• Designed to provide ecommerce solutions and support strategies
Storefront MCP Server
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets apps pass real-time context to AI models. Shopify’s new Storefront MCP Server applies this standard to commerce, exposing live product, cart, order, and policy data through a single endpoint.
For merchants, that means you can plug any AI assistant into your store without custom plumbing – for shoppers, it means richer, more accurate help, think natural-language product search, personalised recommendations, seamless cart edits, and instant order updates , all inside one conversational experience.
Shopify Markets & Multi-Entity Setup
For merchants selling globally, Shopify Plus allows multi-entity setup and simplifies managing different legal entities, currencies, and tariffs from one account – a critical tool given today’s complex trade environment.
Nested Markets: With Nested Markets, merchants can break down broader regions into more specific submarkets. For example, if a merchant is selling jackets, they might want to target colder climates like Melbourne instead of places like Cairns. This level of regional targeting helps deliver more personalised and effective shopping experiences, and as personalisation continues to evolve, this level of market segmentation will only become more critical.
Enhanced Customer Accounts
Customer accounts now support Shopify Markets, bringing expanded functionality that enables a more seamless, localised customer experience across multiple regions.
The Shopify Summer Editions ‘25 updates suggest a major shift toward smarter automation, deeper customisation, and AI-powered commerce. Shopify isn’t just rolling out new features, it’s building a future where ecommerce is faster, more flexible, and more intelligent.
