As an ecommerce agency with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, we specialise in building dynamic ecommerce solutions using Shopify Plus and Commercetools, leveraging headless architecture to empower some of Australia’s leading brands.

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team on a full-time basis, where you will act as a technical lead for large-scale projects, mentoring the development team and driving successful outcomes.

About the Role

• Lead teams and accounts, serving as a technical escalation point for large-scale projects.

• Architect and develop enterprise-ready solutions, ensuring best practices are followed.

• Oversee and contribute to the delivery of work across multiple developers, guiding them through complex tasks.

• Collaborate with non-technical team members, identifying key risks and managing dependencies to ensure seamless project execution.

• Mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.

Your day may include

• Leading the architecture, planning, and implementation of complex solutions across various codebases.

• Reviewing and setting the standard for code quality across the development team.

• Coordinating with Delivery, Project, and Accounts teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

• Contributing to documentation, technical specifications, and other artefacts to improve team processes.

• Conducting code reviews and workshops, championing best practice implementations throughout the engineering team.

Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, with expertise in GCP or AWS.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and experience with test-driven development.

• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions and leading teams effectively.

• Strong understanding of software design principles, scalability, security, and best practices.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt conversations for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaboration-oriented mindset with a focus on driving results and fostering team growth.

We are currently seeking an experienced Shopify Developer to join our growing team on a full-time basis, helping to build and implement custom Shopify features and solutions for a wide variety of client projects.

About the Role

As a Shopify Developer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable solutions for our clients. You will assist in managing risks and dependencies while contributing to the overall success of the projects and accounts you work on.

This role is full-time and can be based in any of our Convert Digital offices (Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney), with flexible hybrid working arrangements. It’s an ongoing role for someone excited to be part of a dynamic ecommerce agency and contribute to a variety of projects. Your technical skills will contribute to not only the success of the projects and accounts you work on, but act as a standard for aspiring junior software engineers that you work with.

Your day may include

• Developing Shopify themes and custom features across client projects.

• Lead development squads and serve as the technical escalation point for small to medium projects, along with contributing to larger ones.

• Contributing to the delivery of projects and features across all levels of complexity.

• Implementing solutions using Shopify-specific technologies, such as Metafields, Metaobjects, Shopify Functions, and Checkout Extensions.

• Assisting with technical problem-solving for specific projects and accounts.

• Ensuring best practices in code quality, security, and scalability across all projects.

• Assisting in the creation and delivery of documentation, technical specifications, and other artefacts.

• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and reducing technical debt.

Our ideal new addition will have

• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer, specifically with Shopify themes.

• Strong understanding of Shopify specific features, including but not limited to Metafields, Metaobjects, Checkout Extensibility, and Shopify Functions.

• Experience working with search, merchandising, review, and loyalty platforms integrated with Shopify.

• Experience with code reviews and a commitment to best practice development principles.

• Proficient in developing custom Shopify solutions, with a deep understanding of Shopify’s architecture.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design scalable, secure solutions.

• Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills, comfortable working with both technical and non-technical team members.

• Ability to contribute effectively to team objectives.

• Bonus: Experience with ReactJS, TailwindCSS, and back-of-house Shopify integrations.
